Food Delivery Review APIs: Do DoorDash, Grubhub, Just Eat, and Uber Eats Offer One?

Food Delivery Review APIs DoorDash, Grubhub, Just Eat and Uber Eats Offer One

A food delivery review API pulls ratings and reviews from apps like DoorDash and Uber Eats into your tools. However, DoorDash, Grubhub, Just Eat, and Uber Eats don’t offer a public one. Only DoorDash’s opt-in Reporting API includes reviews, and only for a merchant’s own stores.

So if you want rivals’ ratings too, an official food delivery review API won’t help. This guide explains what each platform offers, what’s public, and how to get review data you can use.

PlatformOfficial reviews API?What’s public on the app
DoorDashOwn stores only, through the opt-in Reporting APIA lifetime rating, plus written reviews in select markets
Uber EatsNo reviews endpoint listedAn average store rating, while comments stay private in Ireland, for example
GrubhubNo reviews endpoint listedRatings and reviews, where shown

What Is a Food Delivery Review API?

A food delivery review API is a feed of ratings and reviews from delivery apps, in a structured format. Then you can load it into a dashboard, a CRM, or a sentiment model.

Teams look for one for two reasons:

  • Own-store feedback: restaurant brands want every review for their outlets in one place, across apps.
  • Market review data: brands, investors and food-tech firms want rivals’ ratings and review trends, too.

Official platform APIs can sometimes act as a food delivery review API for the first need. By contrast, none of them covers the second. That’s why searches for a “Just Eat review API” or a “Grubhub review API” rarely lead anywhere official.

Food Delivery Review API Options: DoorDash and Uber Eats

DoorDash

DoorDash offers developer APIs, but its Marketplace API isn’t generally available. It covers menus, store status and order webhooks, rather than reviews.

However, DoorDash also runs an opt-in Reporting API for merchants. Its standard reports include customer feedback, with item-level and store-level reviews. Reports arrive as CSV files and refresh daily. Still, it only supports partners in the US, Canada and Australia. So it’s the closest thing to an official food delivery review API.

On the app, DoorDash shows a lifetime rating on a 1–5 scale. In addition, customers in select US, Canadian and Australian markets can leave public reviews.

Uber Eats

Uber Eats documents Marketplace APIs for stores, menus, orders, and reporting. However, access may require Uber’s written approval, and the docs list no ratings or reviews endpoint. Its Reporting API provides merchant reports in CSV, such as payment details and orders.

On the app, Uber shows an average store rating. In Ireland, for example, it’s based on the last 91 days, from at least 10 ratings. Meanwhile, free-text comments go to the restaurant, rather than appearing publicly.

Food Delivery Review API Options: Grubhub and Just Eat

Grubhub

Grubhub’s developer portal covers Marketplace, Connect, and Reporting APIs. These handle menus, merchant data, orders, deliveries, and reporting. However, partners must apply, pass a review, and complete a 15- to 20-store pilot first. Also, none of the listed coverage includes ratings or reviews. So Grubhub has no official food delivery review API either.

Just Eat

Just Eat’s developer APIs cover orders, deliveries, restaurants, consumer queries, and claims. Yet none of the listed APIs cover reviews or ratings.

On the UK app, customers rate food quality and delivery separately. Then Just Eat shows each restaurant’s overall rating, based on the median of the last 12 months of order ratings. However, written comments go only to Just Eat and the restaurant.

In short, a Just Eat review API wouldn’t reveal much text, even if one existed.

Why No Single Food Delivery Review API Covers the Market

Official APIs fall short of market review data for five reasons:

  1. Own stores only: they work with a merchant’s own authorisation, so they can’t show rivals.
  2. Approval first: most require an application, a contract, or a pilot.
  3. Regional limits: DoorDash’s Reporting API, for instance, supports only the US, Canada and Australia.
  4. Private text: Just Eat and Uber Eats keep many written comments private.
  5. Tight limits elsewhere: even Google’s Places API returns at most five reviews per place.

As a result, no single food delivery review API gives you every platform, store, and rival. So most teams combine their own-store reports with a public ratings feed.

Alternatives to an Official Food Delivery Review API

For rivals, the practical alternative to a food delivery review API is public rating data from each app. Third-party tools can also merge your own-store reports, such as DoorDash’s preferred partners, Itsacheckmate and Nextbite.

Fields You Can Collect

What’s public varies by platform and country. Typically, though, you can collect these fields:

Field groupExample fields
StoreBrand, store ID and address, as well as city and postcode
RatingOverall rating, along with rating count
ReviewsReview text and date, where shown publicly
RepliesRestaurant replies, where shown publicly
ItemsMost-liked items, as well as dish ratings where shown
MetadataPlatform, source URL and capture date

Compliance and Personal Data

Reviews can include reviewer names and photos. So leave out anything that identifies a person, because laws such as GDPR protect that data. In addition, review each platform’s terms with your legal team. This isn’t legal advice.

How to Use Food Delivery Review API Data

Once your food delivery review API data flows in, track a few clear KPIs:

  • Average rating: by store, brand, and platform, plotted over time.
  • Rating count growth: new ratings per week, as a rough guide to order volume.
  • Rating gap: your rating against nearby rivals, on each app.
  • Negative themes: common complaints in public text, such as late delivery or missing items.
  • Item feedback: most-liked dishes for you and your rivals.

Steps to Get Started

  1. Pull own-store feedback: use DoorDash’s Reporting API or a partner tool, where available.
  2. Add public market data: collect ratings for your stores and rivals on all four apps.
  3. Match stores: link each outlet across apps by brand and address.
  4. Build a dashboard: show ratings, trends, and themes by city and platform.
  5. Set alerts: flag rating drops and new negative themes each week.

Food Delivery Review API: FAQs

Does DoorDash have a reviews API?

Not a public one. However, US, Canadian, and Australian merchants can opt in to its Reporting API. That includes customer feedback for their own stores.

Does Uber Eats have a reviews API?

Its developer docs list no ratings or reviews endpoint. Instead, the Marketplace APIs cover stores, menus, orders, and reports, and they need Uber’s approval.

Does Grubhub have a reviews API?

Grubhub’s partner APIs cover menus, orders, and reporting, after approval. However, none of the listed coverage includes reviews.

Is there a Just Eat review API?

No public one. In the UK, Just Eat shows only each restaurant’s overall rating, while written comments stay private.

Can a food delivery review API show competitors’ reviews?

No official one can, because official APIs cover only stores you own or manage. So for rivals, teams use public ratings data.

Is collecting delivery app reviews legal?

It depends on each platform’s terms and local laws, such as GDPR. So collect public data only, leave out reviewer names, and check with a lawyer.

How much does review data cost?

Overall, it depends on platforms, stores, fields, and refresh. So start with a free 100-row sample, and then get a custom quote.
